Our First Aid in an Education and Care Setting training, also known as Childcare First Aid, covers all essential components required for legal certification in working with children and within the childcare industry. This comprehensive course is designed to meet the needs of childcare professionals as well as first-time parents, grandparents, and family members seeking crucial first aid skills.
Our Childcare First Aid course covers essential First Aid techniques applicable to children, ensuring participants gain the skills needed for both general and child-specific emergencies. This training also provides a CPR certificate, fulfilling industry requirements for those working in childcare or education.
The Childcare First Aid HLTAID012 training course includes CPR (HLTAID009), and First Aid (HLTAID011).
This unit of competency, approved by the Australian Children’s Education and Care Quality Authority (ACECQA), meets all first aid, anaphylaxis management, and emergency asthma training requirements as stipulated under the Education and Care Services National Law and the Education and Care Services National Regulations (2011).
The course is designed to be comprehensive, covering all aspects of Childcare First Aid. It includes a blend of PowerPoint presentations, theoretical learning, and practical class activities, ensuring you are well-prepared to handle any emergency. The course concludes with an end-of-day assessment to further reassure your readiness.
Provide First Aid in an Education and Care Setting HLTAID012 supersedes the older HLTAID004 – Provide an Emergency First Aid Response in an Education and Care Setting.

Important information prior to enrolling with TLH Training Group
Course Delivery
This course will be delivered in the workplace or at a TLH Training Group site (10-14 Smith Street, Parramatta, NSW, 2150).
Entry Requirements

Participants must have the physical capacity to perform 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on the floor as the the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC).
Participants must be able to read and write with a short literacy and numeracy test required.
Course Duration
Face to Face – 8 hours (minimum)
Assessment Requirements
Individuals undertaking this course will be expected to complete both written and practical assessment tasks. These are detailed in the sections following.
Certificate Renewal Requirements
It is recommended that renewal for the Childcare First Aid Course is undertaken every 3 years, with the additional requirement of updating the CPR component every 12 months.

PROVIDE FIRST AID
Assessments conducted during face-to-face training session(s) include:
Performance tasks – The assessor must observe the following performance tasks:
Perform CPR on an infant
Anaphylaxis (allergic reaction)
Choking with airway obstruction
Unconscious casualty
Bleeding and shock
Snake or funnel web spider bite
Sprains and fractures
Practical scenarios – The assessor must observe the following practical scenario:
Perform CPR on an adult
Breathing difficulties – Asthma
Theory assessment – A written assessment consisting of multiple-choice and short answer questions. The student must complete all assessment questions.
CARDIOPULMONARY RESUSCITATION (CPR)
Assessments conducted during face-to-face training session(s) include:
Performance tasks – The assessor must observe the following performance tasks:
Perform CPR on an infant.
Practical scenarios – The assessor must observe the following practical scenario:
Perform CPR on an adult.
Theory assessment – A written assessment consisting of multiple-choice questions. The student must successfully complete all assessment questions.
